Do you charge for initial meetings? No, there is no charge for an initial consultation. We can meet in person or by phone. Subsequent meetings will be billed at my hourly rate or worked into the job estimate.
Do you require an up-front deposit? Depending on the scope of the project, I may require 1/3 to 1/2 of the total estimate before work begins.
Do you require a contract? Yes, before beginning any work, I'll need you to sign and date the contract that I provide.
What does your fee include? My fee will include concepting, research, a specified number of meetings, telephone interviews, writing, project management and up to two rounds of revisions. Additional revisions will be charged at my hourly rate. The fee does not include travel (beyond Chicagoland) or long-distance telephone expenses, courier fees or other out-of-pocket expenses.
I have a project that's on fire! Do you charge rush fees? For jobs with deadlines under 48 hours or for those requiring weekend hours, I reserve the right to charge additional rush fees of 25% - 50% of the total project cost. Decision is on a case by case basis.
What happens if I have to cancel a project after we've started? If it happens after I've already completed the project and sent you the final copy, I am entitled to full payment of the agreed-upon fee.
If it happens mid-way through the project, I am entitled to full payment of all hours invested up to that point.
